The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

For more than 60 years, the National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP) and the American Federation of Police and Concerned Citizens (AFPCC) have respectfully functioned as independent organizations but with very similar interests. Each has been providing essentially the same services to the law enforcement community with AFPCC serving survivors and departments of officers killed in the line of duty and NACOP serving officers and families of officers who have been disabled or paralyzed in the line of duty.

Presently, we are blessed to be engaged in several missions: building the United States Law Enforcement Eternal Flame and Walk of Heroes to create a permanent tribute to law enforcement while at the same time completely reimagining the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum (APHF).

For quite some time as our organizations have matured, we have been considering several changes that fortify our operations and growth as a whole. Given the closely tied programs of AFPCC and NACOP, and the mission we are on, we have concluded that the time has come to implement those changes. We have established a new corporate structure as a 501c(3) entitled the United States Law Enforcement Foundation (USLEF), created to serve as an umbrella over NACOP, AFPCC, and APHF. This new structure is intended to raise public awareness about the Foundation and the organizations that reside under it and the important work they do for the law enforcement community. Most importantly, all of the organizations will continue to do what they have been doing so well for so many years – provide life-changing programs of compassion and support to law enforcement officers, their families and to law enforcement agencies.

In the months ahead we hope to provide updates about the work and changes associated with USLEF as well as NACOP, AFPCC, and APHF. So indeed, the more things change the more the stay the same – but better.
